Day 1: I said goodbye to the lads and wished them well for their Bungy Jumps that afternoon. I still wasn´t sure if I´d made the right decision or not but seeing the fear on Sam´s face when I wished them luck made me realise I probably had.
Guess who was our driver back to Christchurch .......... Bex! Just as annoying as before so I pretty much had my Ipod in most of the way so I didn´t have to listen to her. It was basically just a long day of driving to get us all back to Christchurch, which would be my last stop. We made a lunch stop half way and I saw a guy called Andreas (who I had met in OZ) was on the same bus so I caught up with him for a bit. He was basically telling me how good the Nevis Bungy Jump was, as he had done it a couple of days previously. Cheers mate!
We arrived into Christchurch early evening and said a very unemotional goodbye to Bex just as she was giving us our Kiwi Experience Surveys to fill out. Inside, a section allowing us to tell the company how good (or bad) their drivers are. I think I might fill that one out!
Andreas joined me as I checked back into Jailhouse - my first hostel in New Zealand. Then I popped into town for some food before coming back to chill at the hostel. Once back, I got on Facebook to see how the lads had got on with their Bungys. They all did it (including Sam) and I therefore had lots of messages telling me how much I had missed out and how good it was. It was then I realised, I´d probably made a mistake in bottling it.
Thinking about it some more and seeing all their photos together, I realised I really regretted it and that´s probably the only real regret I´ve had on the trip so far. I think if I´d put myself up there, I would have jumped because it doesn´t look like you have much choice once you´re there. Watching their videos, it still looks terrifying but they all seemed to love it. If I had that time again, I think I would do it.
I decided at that point that I wanted to return to New Zealand one day and do the jump. Definately.....Maybe.......Probably. Who knows? We´ll see. It´s hard trying to convince yourself that jumping off a ledge 134 Metres high is a good idea. But then, I thought that about jumping out of a plane and loved every minute.
Like I say, pretty gutted when I saw all that but nothing I could do then. Hopefully I´ll conquer this particular fear one day. For now, a short flight back to Auckland for a day before heading out to the islands of Fiji. I´ve heard good things so was pretty excited about going there.
