Auckland (Part 2)

Day 1: Very early flight from Christchurch back up to Auckland for my last day in New Zealand. After checking into the hostel, I immediately got wind of a free city tour that was departing shortly after my arrival. Since I hadn´t had much chance to explore the city the last time I was here, and with a free day to kill, I got involved.

I met up with the group and our guide (Chucky) and we immediately went to check out the city´s Sky Tower, which is pretty cool. One of the girls on the tour even won a free jump from the top. Probably best it wasn´t me after my Bungy cowardness!

After visiting a couple of parks, viewpoints and driving past the Auckland Museum, we stopped for lunch just outside of the city. I got chatting to a couple of lads on the tour before we headed off to Auckland Harbour Bridge for the final part. This was pretty cool, although nowhere near as impressive as the one in Sydney. We did the bridgewalk, which took us a couple of hours and allowed us to walk half way across it.

All-in-all, a pretty good tour and an ideal way for me to see the city with just a day here. Good for free as well.

That evening, I bumped into Erika at the hostel, which I was pleased about as I hadn´t had the chance to say goodbye when I left Queenstown. She was flying back to the States the following morning. I also ran into Alex, who I had last seen in Wellington. He was moving on to Asia next.

A pretty relaxed evening from there on. Flight to Fiji the following day. Bring on the sunshine please!!!
